AN EGGSPLANATION.
 Eggs. You know
them. You love them.
Admit it.You wouldn’t be eagerly
eggsamining this menu if you didn’t.
And though proper mealtime decorum pro-
hibits the precise eggsplanation of eggsactly
what an egg is (or how it got that way), perhaps
a few eggcerpts from some eggsemplary sources
will egg you on. The eggpulsion of the world’s larg-
est egg came forth from the eggstinct Aepyornis,
all two gallons and 13 inches of it. On the other
eggstreme flaps the hummingbird, whose egg weighs
in at 1/30th of an ounce and looks suspiciously like a
pea. The most commonly eaten eggs are eggspropriated
from our fine feathered friend the chicken (as you probably
eggspected). Along with her eggstremely eggspressive sister
hens, 390 billion eggs will be set down over the next 12 months.
No eggsaggeration. If you’re a typical American, you’ll eggspose
yourself to 314 of the protein packed wonders during that same time.
Or if you’re a not so typical Briton, like Peter “Where’s the seltzer?”
Dowdeswell, you’d be able to wolf down 32 soft boileds in 78 seconds,14
hard boileds in 58 seconds and 13 (Dare we repeat it?) raw in 2.2 seconds.
Yikes! (Pete also holds the world record for consuming shrimp, beer, eels and
pancakes. The man obviously has no regard for his digestive tract.) In 1978,
egghibitionist Howard Belmer of New York eggsecuted, in admirable fashion,
217 two egg omelettes in 30 minutes flat. All were plain. And in 1979,
an egg from an eggstremely eggshausted, though eggshilarated hen fell 650
feet onto a Tokyo Golf Course, landing intact. Evidently, the fairways were in
dire need of mowing. And lest we not forget the egg eggstravaganza of all
time when caution was thrown to the wind, and 28,260 hard boiled eggs
were hidden for a massive egg hunt in Harrison, Mississippi.
Mercifully, none were left behind to sit in the sun on that very
warm spring day. Then there’s the young lad who carried an
egg on a spoon 28 miles in 4 1/2 hours, or the two blind
men who mistakenly...never mind. You came here
to eat eggs, not hear about them. Enjoy your
meal. At Dozens where we’ve got a
million of ‘em.
